The IC697CPU732 module is a central processing unit or CPU for the GE Fanuc industrial PLC systems. The IC697CPU732 CPU supports both fixed and floating point mathematical operations. The IC697CPU732 module requires a single slot in the PLC chassis and it draws 1 Amp of current from the backplane at 5 Volts DC input voltage. An integrated serial port on the CPU module supports both the RS-485 and RS-422 communication protocols and it can be used to connect to a programmer for the configuration of the CPU module. The IC697CPU732 module is configured with the IC641 programming software. There are no DIP switches or jumpers on the CPU for configuration. The CPU memory is backed by a battery which is rated for 10 months of shelf life at 20 degrees Celsius. The catalog number of the lithium battery is IC697ACC701.

The IC697CPU732 module supports a total of 512 inputs and outputs. The number of analog I/O supported by the module is 8000. The IC697CPU732 module takes 0.4 microseconds to process a single Boolean function. The 80C198 microprocessor on which the CPU module is based is clocked at 12 megahertz. The IC697CPU732 module supports the IC66 and IC697 I/O modules. Access to the module can be restricted through the use of passwords to prevent unauthorized access and therefore prevent configuration changes which could adversely affect the PLC functions. The operation of the IC697CPU732 module is controlled by a 3-position switch on the front of the module or through a connected programmer and the IC641 software. Three LEDs on the front of the IC697CPU732 module display the status information for installers and operators.
